Conservation Projects

With the objective of consolidating the achievements accomplished thus far, the board is determined to implement a series of projects in the medium and long term.

We intend to tap the doors of private, governmental, national and international NGOs to help us move forward with the task. We will do so with the moral conviction to validate with convincing facts the effort made by the entire community.

We have proposed the development strategy in four projects, namely:

  • Purchase of 500 acres of land: Managing the financial resources to acquire 500 hectares to add to the 500 already in existence and in this way to have protected over 1,000 hectares by 2010.
  • Infrastructure Management: Managing financial and technical resources to install basic infrastructure management.
  • Feasibility study to develop eco-tourism: Managing financial and technical resources for the preparation of a feasibility study to develop an eco-tourism project based on the acquired properties and adjacent to the Juan Castro Blanco National Park.
  • Environmental training: Conservation, management and environmental education for owners and residents of the AFAMAAR reserve and the Juan Castro Blanco National Park.
